As someone who teaches in Elphin I'm
delighted that Valerie Byrne is polling so well. The community backed here to
the hilt. The change in area also did not help her as she lost Ballyleague
where her late husband Gene came from.
My call on the election here is as follows
John Cummins, Valerie Byrne Michael Mulligan and one of the Hopkins with the
last 2 seats decided between Rachel Doherty, Eugene Murphy and Tom Crosby! I'd
say it'll be two seats each old area so that's going to be Cummins and Doherty,
Byrne and Murphy and finally Mulligan and Maura Hopkins.
I posted this yesterday and I’m standing
by my prediction! The biggest loser is Micheal Frain who left a sure Fine Gael
seat as he was upset at the lies about the A&E. He would have got the Fine
Gael party vote that Maura Hopkins got!
We shall see what happens!
