Michael Creaton is the sole Fine Gael member from Lecarrow on Mayo border down to almost Lecarrow in South Roscommon. Loughglynn will be happy as Mick is to the fore in most local activities! Congrats!

Nigel Dineen the great under 21 manager is elected but Larry Brennan lost out yet again! Hard luck Larry.

Athlone Result Ollie Moore loses out

Result from Athlone. I’m sad to see Ollie Moore lose out. He was youngest member on the 1999 council and is still very young. (Has to be as he’s younger than me. ) Ollie is a total gent and will be greatly missed from the County Council. Ironic that it’s health services that are partly the cause of his loss. Portinucula Hospital and the HSE messing there did him no favours!

Anyway Ollie has time for running more races! Go mad Ollie and make up for the years of youthfulness you dedicated to public service!

Mc Greal is gone

Another former Mayor of Roscommon has lost his seat! Micheal Mc Greal from Ballinlough has been eliminated from the contest. A member of the council for many years around 1985 I’d say.

It’s perhaps ironic that on the day that Luke Ming Flanagan is at the zenith of his political career his arch enemy Michael Mc Greal should be experiencing the loneliness of defeat.

Mc Greal was an outspoken loyal Fine Gael member who spoke out in support of his party and was seen to be very close to the party leadership. He previously ran unsuccessfully for the Senate and is a very high profile Fine Gael member.

What now for Micheal Mc Greal? Well he’ll be busy with the Inland Fisheries Board and other committees he’s involved in. A hard worker for the Parish of Kiltullagh he’ll not be gone for long I’d say!

Roscommon can Larry make it????

So this is how it stands with 831 votes from O Brien to be distributed. You'd have to say that Creaton is in a great position as is Dinneen. Mc Greal is 155 votes behind so I think he's gone. That means that Creaton and Dineen will get a serious transfer there. Will it end up that Nigel slips it to the net in the one on one with Larry. I think Nigel will make it.

My call is FF two seats FG one Ind FG one Nigel with seat and Shanagher and Larry in the battle for last seat. We'll see!
